Hakata Gion Yamakasa
Throughout the city, magnificent and ornate floats crafted by Hakata doll makers line the streets, enveloping the town in the festive atmosphere. In the climax, the "Oiyama," men in traditional loincloths carry the approximately 1-ton floats, and at 4:59 a.m. on July 15th, seven groups depart from Kushida Shrine at 5-minute intervals. The city of Hakata is filled with excitement and cheers as the festival reaches its peak. Our hotel is located in the "Nakasu-ryu" area, and during the festival period, you can feel the excitement and energy unique to the Yamakasa festival even around the hotel.

A historical walk through Fukuoka Castle and the Korokan (a historical inn for foreign dignitaries).
Around the site of the former Heiwadai Stadium, once the home ground of the Nishitetsu Lions, the remains of the Korokan, a guesthouse used to welcome diplomatic missions during the Asuka, Nara, and Heian periods, have been discovered. Excavation work began in 1987 during renovations to Heiwadai Stadium, and research and preservation efforts are still ongoing. Some of the excavated artifacts and remains are on display at the Korokan Ruins Exhibition Hall, where visitors can learn about the history of ancient international exchange. Together with the adjacent Maizuru Park and Fukuoka Castle Ruins, this area offers a chance to enjoy a stroll while experiencing rich nature and historical romance.

Historical sites centered around Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
Centered around Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, the temple town is lined with shops selling Umegae mochi (plum blossom rice cakes) and souvenirs, making it a great place to enjoy street food and sightseeing. Historical sites are also scattered throughout the area, including the ruins of the Dazaifu Government Office, which governed ancient Kyushu and was known as the "Distant Imperial Court," and Kanzeonji Temple, which houses a national treasure bronze bell. This area is perfect for a half-day trip, allowing you to experience history and culture.
