Enjoy the hydrangeas in full bloom and history

This is a bus tour package available only on June 12th (Friday).
The tour begins with a bus ride from the hotel to Shimoda City. After strolling through Shimoda Hydrangea Garden, Japan's largest hydrangea garden with 3 million blooming flowers, you will attend a lecture at Ryosenji Temple, which laid the foundation for Japan's opening to the world.
How did the people of Shimoda feel about Commodore Perry and his entourage, who came to conclude the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty? Along with Japanese paintings depicting the time, these anecdotes, not found in history textbooks, are a must-hear. Shimoda's traditional tea and sweets will also be provided.
After the tour ends, you can choose to get off at one of five locations: Shimoda Station, Kawazu Station, or your chosen hotel.
Please enjoy this special one-day-only bus tour.

Places to stop by

Shimoda Hydrangea Park

Like a kaleidoscope! 3 million hydrangeas in full bloom

Shimoda Park offers a panoramic view of Shimoda city and Shimoda Port. The entire mountain is beautifully and vibrantly covered with countless hydrangeas.
More than 100 varieties of hydrangeas line the promenade, shining brilliantly during the rainy season.
Enjoy Shimoda Park in June, which feels like you've wandered into a kaleidoscope.

Ryosenji Temple

Interesting talks on the secrets of the country's opening are popular

This was the reception room and the place where the Shimoda Treaty, which was the detailed agreement for the Treaty of Peace and Amity between the United States and Japan, was negotiated with the shogunate. It is currently a nationally designated historic site.
The story of the Black Ships and the opening of Japan by the head priest in the main hall is not just a general history talk, but includes stories that can only be heard here, such as the reaction of the Shimoda townspeople at the time and the inside story of the negotiations for the signing of the treaty. There are also repeat visitors who want to hear the head priest's stories.
The grounds also house the Black Ship Museum, which houses over 3,000 original video materials relating to the opening of Japan to the world.
